I hate unwrapping ... (except for presents)

I wanted to get my alien weapon unwrapped as quickly as possible. However it is taking a lot longer than I anticipated. I have completed the Base which took 2 days hope fully the rest will be quick. I'm hoping to complete the rest in a day.

Medium Alien Weapon

Today, I started work on the weapon for the medium aliens to hold. I hope that it won't take very long. i messed about with the design using a previous human weapon design as a template. Im fairly pleased with the results, I've tried to keep it similar to the large alien weapon to give the feel that they are from the same universe and technology. I got the basic shape done and need to apply abit more detail.
I also looked at locations for the roof top shot and found a car park that was suitable. I am going to look into asking permission from some companies with buildings around the atrium. I'm hopeful that we will find something.

I began work on the Weapon base yesturday and I have almost finished today.

The Alien Weapon Modelling Begins...

I started the Alien Weapon yesturday. The Turret part of the weapon is pretty much finished. I'm pleased at how quickly I'm modelling.

Small Alien almost done...

Finished my dissertation and now putting the final touches of texturing with the alien. taking a little longer as im messing about with SSS fast skin, but I've learnt alot. here are some renders of the alien.

Alien Essay

I haven't updated my blog in a while. With my small alien model I have finished unwrapping and have almost finished texturing. I am experimenting with SSS fast skin at the moment. nut that is on hold for a while as my dissertation is in on monday so i need to complete that. I am currently a little behind schedule but getting this essay and my small alien complete this week would be awesome.
I also made the flash grenade used for the film today out of a old grenade and a Jean Paul Gaultier tin which looks pretty cool I think (from far away) Its nice to do some hands on stuff. I also managed to borrow some gun shells as props for the puddle shot. They are currently tied together but can be detached.
I have created a mock up of the poster for the puddle shot of the film also. Not for the look but what I think should be on the poster for the audience to get an indication of what is going on. First 'Evacuation' that people are in danger and need to leave the area. Second, 'Call to Arms' That the military are in need of volunteers to show how desperate things have become and that the people that are fighting are just volunteers.
